On Saturday at 7 p.m., stay for a free concert by mezzo-soprano Cyndia Quinn and hear her voice soar through the basilica-cathedral’s remarkable acoustics.
On Saturday, September 12, head to the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity for an organ concert celebrating the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. Let yourself be swept away by the power of this majestic instrument. On Sunday, it’s time to discover change ringing! Watch a demonstration by the bell ringers and explore the cathedral’s upper reaches.
Prefer museums and exhibitions? Head to Trois-Rivières! At the Musée des Ursulines de Trois-Rivières, explore the chapel and museum at your own pace and discover the extraordinary daily life of the Ursuline sisters, including a new permanent exhibition, Ursulines, the Story.
Continue on to the Our Lady of the Cape Shrine, where a religious art exhibition is being presented as part of the event. Discover Regard sur le sacré, a collection of works by contemporary Christian artists from Quebec.
Your final stop offers a glimpse into the life and history of the Franciscans in the province. At the Father Frederic Janssoone Museum (Musée Bon Père Frédéric), learn more about the life of a man who helped shape the region’s religious landscape in the early 20th century. While admission is free, guides will be on hand to share highlights from his life and journey. You can also explore a new temporary exhibition.
Start your journey in Longueuil, where you can take part in a guided tour of the Cocathédrale Saint-Antoine-de-Padoue or its museum. Then head to Varennes and stop at the Sanctuaire Sainte-Marguerite-d’Youville to discover the permanent exhibition dedicated to the life of this devoted woman and members of her family, some of whom held important positions in New France.
Next, make your way to the Cathédrale Saint-Hyacinthe-le-Confesseur, which offers a rather unique way to experience the site! On Sunday, September 13, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., a free tai chi session will be offered inside the cathedral. No previous experience or special equipment is required. While you’re there, take some time to admire its impressive architecture.
